Join fellow alumni for a special History Department salon featuring military historian Elihu Rose (GSAS '69, '78). World War II ended in 1945, but the American World War II movie remains a staple of film production to this day. Why is this so? How has the World War II movie changed over time? What do these movies tell us not only about the war itself but about the culture and politics of the time in which a particular film was made? We will explore the genesis of the combat film in the early days of the war and follow its development until now.
