Leveraging Open Data and Science to Diagnose and Combat COVID-19
Join the NYU Alumni Community to hear first-hand from NYU researchers on the front lines of COVID-19 Research. Join Kyunghyun Cho, Associate Professor of Computer Science and Data Science, NYU Center for Data Science and NYU Courant, to learn more about his work with "Breathe for Science" to potentially diagnose respiratory illnesses, including COVID-19, by analyzing coughing patterns via phone calls and his work on launching the Neural Covidex platform with colleagues from other Universities.
The platform provides a service that curates relevant information about COVID-19 and related pandemics to help policymakers and clinicians make better-informed decisions and by helping researchers generate new insights. Professor Cho will focus on how his team was able to rapidly deploy these services using state-of-the-art technologies, enabled by years of open science at NYU and other places.
Julia Kempe, Professor of Computer Science, Mathematics and Data Science and Director of Center for Data Science, moderated the session.
